How the Twelve Are Decided

Each stone guide on this site publishes a chakra and an element, both drawn from crystal healing tradition. Those two fields turn out to identify all twelve stones uniquely: no two share the same pair. So the quiz scores your answers toward one element and one chakra zone and reads off the stone that sits at that address.

Three questions feed the element, three feed the zone, and the questions carry slightly different weights, which keeps near-ties rare enough that your answers decide the outcome. Take it twice with the same answers and you get the same stone.

Fact and Folklore, Kept Apart

The mineral facts behind each result are checkable: pearl really is Mohs 2.5, diamond really does top the scale at 10, and turquoise really has been mined for more than five thousand years. Those come from the sources listed on each stone’s guide.

Chakras, elements and stone symbolism are a different kind of claim. They come from folklore and crystal healing practice, and there is no evidence any of it affects personality, mood or health. This quiz is for fun. It sits on the folklore side of that line and says so.

What Each Element Tends to Mean

Four elements sit behind three of the six questions. Fire covers the stones people reach for when they want to act: garnet, ruby, topaz and diamond. Earth holds emerald, peridot and turquoise, the steady end of the set. Water runs through aquamarine, pearl and opal, all three tied to feeling and to reading a room. Air belongs to amethyst and sapphire, the two most associated with stepping back and thinking.

The elemental scheme is old and it is not consistent across cultures. Western crystal practice inherited a four-element model from Greek natural philosophy, while other traditions count five or more. What you will find here is the Western four, because that is the scheme the stone guides on this site already use.

The Six Chakra Zones, Briefly
